2022 has been a year for the books so far, with the second quarter following suit! What are some of the exciting updates from our product roadmap? Look below to find out what we’ve been up to: 


SMS now available as a channel in Chat Desk

Businesses can now engage their end-users in live chat sessions on SMS. Although built to enable live agent messaging in North America, this will work in any country where Clickatell supports 2-way numbers.

This enhancement only makes use of plain text messaging (i.e., no media) but does include location sharing functionality. Phone numbers for all SMS chat sessions are automatically marked as verified, without having to go through a laborious OTP verification process (as can be the case with richer channels). 

WhatsApp embedded sign-up added to the Clickatell portal

We now offer a much easier way to onboard clients to the WhatsApp Business Platform with an embedded onboarding flow that simplifies the process, reduces the time it takes to onboard new clients, and allows Clickatell to get more customers set up faster.

When adding a new WhatsApp account and profile, clients are guided step-by-step through the entirely new WhatsApp sign-up journey from within the Clickatell Portal.

All they need to do is follow these steps:

  1. Create a Clickatell account (if they haven't yet)

  2. Create a new WhatsApp Account and Profile and verify their number in the Facebook Business Manager Portal

  3. Purchase a WhatsApp subscription package for the WhatsApp Profile

  4. Set up an API

After that, clients can start sending and receiving WhatsApp messages. It really is that simple!
