Connecting to our gateway via SMPP The connection for regular high-volume users.
Our SMPP connection is ideal if you need to send out a high volume of messages
each month, and to do so at high speed. With an SMPP connection, you're continuously
connected to our gateway, and the standard protocol requires no programming if you
have SMPP software installed.
Clickatell supports connections via SMPP using the global SMPP 3.4 standard, and is backward compatible. Clickatell's SMPP connection is ideal for businesses that
need to send large volumes of SMS each month. To that end we require a
minimum of 5,000 SMS credits get used on a monthly basis. Additionally, in
order for Clickatell to guarantee a quality service, all our potential
customers have to undergo an SMPP compliance test.
What you can do when you connect via SMPP:
Like all our APIs, the SMPP connection supports text, Unicode, binary SMS and flash messaging.
It gives you support for extended length messages.
You're able to use our converters to turn ringtones and logos into the correct format.
You can use our VCard and VCal converters.
Delivery acknowledgement and sender ID can be set up.
You can set up two-way messaging.
Your connection is languaging-platform independent.
There's no charge to connect to our gateway using the SMPP API. To send and receive messages via the gateway you need simply
to purchase message credits. The cost of these varies depending on the volume purchased and the destination you intend sending to.

How to connect via SMPP:
Sign up for SMPP (Please note that registration and account setup usually takes around 24 hours, excluding weekends).
Complete the account and product forms.
Purchase a minimum of 5,000 SMS credits from Clickatell (or ensure you already have a balance of 5,000 credits).
We will next update our firewall to allow you to bind. Once this is complete we will send you an e-mail.
Bind to our test SMPP server and test delivery.
Once you have bound successfully, and have been approved, we will migrate you onto the production servers.
