The Situation
Followed by the inclusion of the mobile telephone technology into SAA's Standard Operating Procedures, the need for a trustworthy SMS service provider to buoy up this technology also surfaced.

The Solution
On 20 December 2001 South African Airways employed the Clickatell Communicator to take care of their messaging needs. The Clickatell Communicator solution was linked to the SAA intranet; accessible from within the Operations Control Centre (OCC) of South African Airways at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.
The Results
Short Messages (SMS's) are sent to corporate member mobile telephone numbers grouped into individual groups in the Clickatell address book; categorised to events specific as per the South African Airways Alarm notification documentation.
