The Situation
The NEST Energy Systems built-in computer monitor checks the energy and security status of their solar energy stations
constantly. Since the computer is satellite connected to the Internet, that information is accessible from any remote
location, anywhere in the world. What was required was a way to reliably notify the customer if a serious problem
(intrusion, breakdown) was in progress. Clickatell could provide that link.
The Solution
The NEST Energy Systems custom computer software in each unit is pre-configured for Clickatell SMTP API service. The customer can
determine which level of alert causes a text-pager message to be sent, and where to send it.
The Results
Clickatell provides a reliable way to notify customers of serious problems with their systems, regardless of where
in the world those systems may be. Since it is the deployed solar unit itself that is communicating, the alert is received within seconds of the occurrence.
NEST Energy Systems now intends to deploy hardened solar energy stations in hostile border security
situations. With the aid of Clickatell this will allow customers to monitor that border and report any
intrusions or problems without putting their forces in harm's way. |
