The Situation
In today's competitive Banking environment it has become crucial for financial organisations to provide customers
with real-time, reliable information on their banking transactions, no matter where they are located.
FNB wanted to extend its existing SMS service beyond the precincts of South Africa to neighbouring countries in
order to ensure that each and every FNB customer, no matter his or her location, could benefit from text-based alerts.
A rollout of this nature however presented certain challenges, as cross border communications can sometimes be
problematic. Of great importance to FNB was that these international connections were reliable and redundant, allowing
messages to be delivered immediately even when the main delivery routes went down.

The Solution
South Africa's First national Bank teamed up with Clickatell to expand their existing inContact SMS alert service to clients in Namibia.
Clickatell's interfaces are so flexible and user-friendly that it required little integration or effort from the Bank and Clickatell effortlessly
combined FNB's text-based banking alert service and the mobile messaging carrier's cutting edge mobile messaging gateway.
The Results
Clickatell has enabled FNB with international SMS capability, specifically to Namibia, via its gateway.
FNB are able to notify its customers immediately of account transactions via an SMS message to their mobile phones. Enabling
clients to keep up-to-the-minute with all activity taking place in their accounts, and to monitor and detect any fraudulent activity.
